Canva AI Review

My Review of Canva AI

Let’s start by giving credit where it’s due. The song featured in my YouTube video short is "Ghost Town" by the British two-tone band The Specials. Released on June 12, 1981, it became an iconic track, spending three weeks at number one and a total of 11 weeks in the UK Singles Chart's top 40. The song holds cultural significance, as it became a hit during the tumultuous 1981 England riots. Now, onto my video short: the use of dolls and stuffed bears doesn’t reflect the song's original meaning. Here’s what actually happened. I asked AI to generate a "playground" scene, and it included dolls and stuffed toys. Somehow, the AI's playground turned into a disco scene, which left me scratching my head about what to do next. That’s when "Ghost Town" popped into my mind, and things spiraled from there. The result? A hilariously chaotic video that makes me laugh every time I watch it. It’s absurd, but after such a tedious AI project, adding some humor felt necessary. By the way, those bears walking out of the "playground" at the end? That was my little symbol of victory. Honestly, I might be trauma-bonded with those bears now—don’t be surprised if they star in a whole series of shorts (seriously). For those interested in content creation, I’ve linked my YouTube channel to Gen-X-Perience.com, where I also have a "Gen Tech" section showcasing AI-generated projects. The video may seem bizarre, but I used AI image generation tools to create it. Let me tell you, AI prompting can be both fascinating and frustrating. Even with precise prompts, not all AI apps deliver consistent results. For this video, I used Canva AI to generate the images. While it produced some bizarre visuals (which I eventually embraced), it took a lot of effort. In the end, I edited everything together using Canva and added the audio with Animotica. To extract the music clips, I used a screen recorder to save the audio as an MP3. Here’s my take on Canva AI: it’s a mixed bag. While it’s decent for creating a few quick images, producing cohesive visuals for a larger project is incredibly time-consuming. I have the Pro version of Canva, but even then, its AI struggles with consistency and often generated strange results. Oh, and let’s not forget its frustrating issues with spelling in the AI-generated text. I’d rate Canva AI a 5/10. Beginners might find it sufficient for simple tasks, but if you’re looking to create something more intricate (like a video), be prepared for a lot of trial and error. For this short video, I had to generate over 100 images just to get the handful I used. No exaggeration. So, that’s the story behind my ridiculous AI experiment. If you’re curious, give it a try yourself—I’d love to hear your thoughts! Meanwhile, I’m diving into more apps for my next AI project review. Stay tuned for what comes next!
