🎬 Gen Tech Review: InVideo 4.0 & “RedPop”
If you told us in 1985 that one day we’d be generating videos with a few clicks—no camcorder, no VHS tape, no rewinding—we’d have called it science fiction. But here we are in 2025, and InVideo 4.0 is turning that fiction into frictionless creativity.
As part of my ongoing exploration of AI tools for Gen X creators, I took InVideo’s latest version for a spin. The result? A quirky, punchy little video called “Red Pop”—a 25-second montage built from five AI-generated clips, edited with Clipchamp to give it a personal twist.
Let’s break down the experience.
? What Is InVideo 4.0?
InVideo is an AI video generator that lets users create short-form content from text prompts, templates, or curated themes. Version 4.0 introduces:
- Improved Scene Generation: More coherent visuals and transitions
- Expanded Style Library: From cinematic to social media-ready formats
- Voiceover & Music Integration: Auto-syncing with generated visuals
- Faster Rendering: Near-instant previews and exports
Perfect for marketers, educators, and yes—nostalgia-driven Gen X bloggers who want to blend storytelling with tech.
🎥 Creating “Red Pop”with AI
I started with a simple prompt: “A woman is running after a red helium balloon that floats ahead of her on a trail in the forest. Make the video look cinematic and real with a mysterious tone and music that is dark and forboding.” You are given the opportunity to choose different options before you click the generate button. You can choose the format size, the resolution, and different styles. InVideo 4.0 generated five 5-second clips, each with its own flavor and put them together in a short video clip. Invideo gives you an option after the video is generated to edit and change what the AI generated. It was at this point I learned that there were 5 videos and each one was 5 seconds. Invideo had put the videos together and the whole clip I was given was only 17 seconds long. The clips were surprisingly cohesive, but I wanted more control over pacing and transitions, so I exported into Clipchamp, Microsoft’s intuitive video editor. I downloaded each video seperately and edited it together with ClipChamp. Invideo added sound and I did not change that. I did however change the music and added my own. The videos that invideo v4.0 generated were consistent and properly aligned with the prompt I gave it. The video quality was also good and there were no "garbage" video outputs. I used all 5 video generations for free which was a plus.
✂️ Editing with Clipchamp: Creative Control
Clipchamp let me:
- Trim clips for better narrative flow
- Add an audio track to match the vibe
- Overlay title text: “Red Pop"
