My AI Passion Mission

Why Teaching Gen X About AI Is My Mission, And Why 2025 Is the Year to Lean In

We’re the generation that watched the world digitize in real time. We went from rotary phones to smartphones, from floppy disks to cloud storage, from encyclopedias to search engines. Gen X has always been the bridge between analog and digital, and now; we’re standing at the edge of something even bigger. We are witnessing the AI revolution. I believe we deserve a front-row seat.

Why Gen X Needs to Engage With AI

AI isn’t just for tech bros or Gen Z coders. It’s reshaping industries, redefining creativity, and reimagining how we work, learn, and lead. But too often, people from my generation feel like AI is something happening to us, not with us. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to teach, demystify, and empower Gen X to understand and use AI not just as consumers, but as contributors. We’ve got decades of experience, strategic thinking, and leadership under our belts, so imagine what happens when we combine that with AI fluency. We stop fearing disruption and start driving it.

What’s Happening in AI Right Now (And Why It Matters)

2025 is not just another year of tech hype. I have seen the leaps AI has made, and it’s a turning point. Here are just a few of the seismic shifts happening:

  • Augmented Working: AI is now enhancing (not replacing) human decision-making. From real-time analytics to smarter workflows, it’s helping professionals work faster and think deeper.
  • Smaller, Smarter Models: Language models are becoming more efficient and accessible, making AI tools easier to integrate into everyday business and personal use.
  • Generative Everything: We’ve moved from AI-generated text and images to full-blown virtual worlds and video games created on the fly.
  • Explainable AI (XAI): Transparency is improving. Tools like SHAP and LIME are helping users understand how AI makes decisions which is critical for trust and adoption.
  • AI Agents in Business: Companies are deploying persistent AI agents that manage tasks across platforms, from customer service to scheduling and lead qualification.

These aren’t just tech trends. They’re signals that AI is becoming foundational to how we live and work. It is here to stay and now is the time to learn what it's all about.

Why This Mission Is Personal

I’ve always been a techie, whether it was gaming or being a part of the beginnings of the internet and social media with Myspace. It seems like yesterday that I was sitting in Computer Programming writing the code for a simple Pong program on a floppy disk. Then came Yahoo and Myspace. I remember when Facebook emerged, and I felt like the world was going to end as people left Myspace. Then came Instagram and I was front and center for it. I was an online seller before it was called a side hustle, and as the newest generation migrated to Tik Tok I stayed back. I had lost my passion for the new computer age until AI raised its head, which made me raise an eyebrow. My curiosity went in full force and for the past 3 years AI has become an obsession. Now, I’m channeling that same energy into helping people understand AI, and not just the tools, but the mindset.

Because here’s the truth: AI literacy is the new digital literacy. And Gen X, with our adaptability, is perfectly positioned to lead the charge. Whether it’s using AI to streamline workflows, analyze data, or even brainstorm creative ideas, I want to make sure we’re not left behind; or worse, left out.

What’s Next

Through Gen-X-perience and the Gen Tech page, I share practical guides, use the new AI tools, and give insights to help anyone wanting to understand the AI that is out there. This isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about claiming our place in the future.

So, if you’ve ever felt curious, skeptical, or overwhelmed by AI, I hope you stick around. My AI mission is ongoing as AI progresses at a speed I try hard to keep up with. If my excitement for the AI revolution that is unfolding inspires one person to explore the possibilities of AI, then I have completed a side quest in my AI passion mission.
